KRABI TRIP!!

Last November we went to our Honeymoon (Finally!) to Krabi. Total expenditure for the trip was less than RM3000. I kid you not. INCLUDING the flight tickets and the shopping. Yes, this post is delayed like half a year dah. We went there for 5 days.

Flights

We went there with Airasia, bought the tickets early AND during a sale so we got them for RM447. This includes 15KG X 3 check in luggage and one 20KG. My advice, tak payah amik the 20KG one sebab confirm tak berat sampai macam tu. Ours was less than 15 each to AND fro. The RM447 also includes meals for both of us both ways. Kenapa amik meals? Saja ngada2. Tapi Chicken Sandwich dia serious sedap.

Hotel Bookings

We booked the hotel 2 weeks before the trip sebab kept on changing plans where to stay. In the end, we booked two hotels, half of the week at Ao Nang Beach, and the other half at Krabi Town though we should have spent more days at Ao Nang than Krabi Town sebab Krabi Town tak ada apa sangat.

Booked our hotels through Booking.Com. Very user-friendly.

Haleeva Hotel

The first half of the week we stayed at Haleeva Hotel (the locals pronounce it as Hareeva). Cheap, clean and the most important thing, the staff there are super friendly. There will always be at least 3 staff at the reception desk.

There's a swimming pool at the back of the hotel and they'll provide you with a pool towel since you are not allowed to take the room towels outside.

The walk from Haleeva to the beach is around 10 - 15 mins (they'll tell you this) but it'll take you more than that. 10 - 15 minutes only if you are walking briskly. Very briskly.

The beach is not so nice. I mean, it's ok - of course better than Port Dickson. But the islands are beautiful!

Ok, you don't have to go and buy beach mats because you can just borrow it from the hotel at no charge. If you need hot water, you can just go to the reception desk and ask for an electric kettle. They lend it to you. You only need to write your name in a book.

If you would like to rent a bike, you can get it next to the hotel for 200THB (around RM20) per day. You might be able to get cheaper rent if you go to the other rental shops along the street.

The price we paid for the hotel for two nights was 2400THB (RM 240) which is considered cheap.

Shopping in Ao Nang

Always, always, always bargain your way to cheaper price. We got our straw hats for half the price, our beach mat for less than 100THB. You just have to be friendly but ruthless. I can't really explain since I inherited it form my Mom. It runs in my blood. But never take the price they give to you without trying to lower them.

Tours

The hotel (just like any other hotels in Krabi) can provide you with tours but my suggestion is - go through the booths available along the street to find the best rate. We went to Phi Phi Island through Koh Phi Phi Tour group (they're awesome!) for 1200 THB but you can actually get it for 1100 THB. This is by speedboat. You can get it cheaper if you choose longtail boats. By speedboat, it'll take you around 45 minutes.

If you choose Phi Phi Island Tour, they'll bring you to Maya Bay which is where The Beach was filmed. I kid you not, it is the most beautiful beach I have ever stepped on. The sand was like flour! No wonder people were killed in that movie.

We also went to Railay beach. No tours though. We bought a couple of longtail boats' tickets and went there at 8 in the morning, strolled around and got back by 10.15am since we had to check out the hotel by 11. If you are planning to go there, please eat first because the food there is EXPENSIVE! we had breakfast there for 280 THB untuk roti dengan chees (bukan melted pun ye) and omelet. That's it. Tak ada air pun sebab bottled water pun 30 THB. Nasib baik bawak air sendiri. The boat trip to Railay from Ao Nang was only 15 min so sangat dekat.

 Krabi Town

If you guys are looking for T-shirts as souvenirs, DO NOT buy them at AO NANG. Go to Krabi Town, ada this one very small shop yang print t-shirts dia sendiri. The material is also oh-so-comfy! The shop is located dekat T-junction Hemthanon Road and Thanon Krabi. If you can stand at the corner of the Green Hotel, you can see 7Eleven. Pegi kat 7E tu and jalan sampai hujung. It should be on your right.

 Food

If you're a Muslim, don't worry, PLENTY of Halal food in Ao Nang and the town. If you're up for really spicy food, while in Ao Nang, go to one of the stalls in front of McDonalds. Kakak tu goreng lauk kat sideways tu je. SEDAP GILA. Order lah Chicken with Basil leaf and the green curry. I kid you not. Pedas and sedap. We stayed at Sripet Hotel while in the town. You can pay 100 THB and go eat all you can at their in-house restaurant. Yes, hotel tu hotel Muslim. Though, the green curry wasn't as good as the one yang digoreng tepi jalan kat Ao Nang. Kat town takde, kat Malaysia pun takde yang sesedap tu.

There are 3 7-Elevens along the street so it shouldn't be a problem if you need to find milk, etc. They have Milo too but somehow it's sweeter than ours.

Basically, if you're going there, spend the time getting to know the place and enjoy it as much as you can. Very friendly people (especially in Ao Nang, not so much in the town cause everybody thought we were locals), go to as many tours as you can but always survey the price first. What we had to pay was actually a little bit more than the usual since it was the beginning of the school holiday so it was already the peak season.

If there are any questions anybody would like to ask, just comment or e-mail me. If I can help you in any way with your trip, I'd be glad to do so. :)

Cheers!
