When I first interviewed for this job, I was excited. When I first got my classes and courses, I was worried. When I first taught my classes, I was stressed out. When now I have tons of assignments and quizzes to mark and those marks to be keyed in by next week, I am overwhelmed to the point where I am only able to put myself in the hibernate mode and not being shut down completely.
But one thing's for sure, all in all, the whole time I'm here so far, I am happy. Getting to know my students, learning while I teach, and just being close to the people that I care. Knowing that I can survive in the working world is just as satisfying as a big serving of old fashion butter pecan ice cream from Baskin Robbins... (Now I'm hungry...)
Currently still in my office although it's 9 at night, drowned in book reviews for my TWO reading classes, hungry since I still haven't had my dinner and I had a VERY light lunch just now, I'm surprised with myself. I can sing-a-long (loudly and very out of pitched) to Matchbox 20 while reading the journals of my writing class. The gratifying knowledge on how my comments have changed the lives of these beautiful young adults in how they face their life here at INTEC. Who would have guessed that lecturing can be so satisfying...? I certainly didn't...
